Beneath Toronto's downtown streets lies one of the world's largest underground pedestrian networks, where 30 kilometres of tunnels, concourses, and connections that quietly shape how hundreds of thousands of people move through the city every day. In this inaugural tour series, CVU's Canada Office welcomes James Parakh, Urban Design Manager for Toronto & East York, to guide participants through the history, design, and ongoing evolution of the PATH network and Toronto's broader pedestrian realm. Starting from City Hall's public plaza, the tour traces how underground infrastructure, street-level design, and the spaces between buildings come together to define the experience of the city at ground level. Whether you're a longtime Torontonian or new to the city, this is a chance to see the urban fabric from a perspective that rarely gets the spotlight: from the ground up.
