The densification of a city requires more than new structures; it requires the creation of new places that must become integrated with the life of the city to make the development commercially successful and architecturally Tall buildings must establish a dialogue with the pre-existing urban context, especially in history-rich European cities. This maxim drives unique interactions, especially at ground level, and sometimes below ground. Presentations in this session address these complex and sometimes conflicting imperatives.
